BAMCAT Open House Info 2018-19

 

BAMCAT Families,
Welcome back!  The Board has already met and we have some information to share with you.
We have our first volunteer opportunity of the year for our students.  Please show other students how awesome BAMCAT is by being a Information Table Helper at the Open Houses next week.  If you can be of assistance, please sign up. BAMCAT Student Open House Help . Wear a BAMCAT shirt from any season if you have one.

Variety Show Information

  • SATURDAY REHEARSAL 10am-2pm: Please be at school by 10am with all costumes! Mr. Sweet will be there by 9:15 if you would like to come early to help get organized. Bring a snack, drink and lunch. Note the extended time.

  • NEXT WEEK REHEARSALS:
    • Monday (3-6) Bring all costumes and plastic bin for storage if you haven’t already.
    • Tuesday (3-8) We will be providing food for the kids again- this time subs. Please let me know if you are able to help out with set-up/clean-up. They will break for dinner sometime between 5 and 5:30 depending on where they are in a scene. We were all done with clean-up by about 6:15 last week. Thanks to the ladies who came to help!
    • Wednesday is crew only as the 8th graders are going on field trip this day. Rest up for the big day!!!
    • Thursday The kids will be performing a short portion of the show during school for each of the grade levels. Mr. Sweet will be providing me with the schedule if you want to come watch.
  • PERFORMANCE & REHEARSAL VOLUNTEERS: A lot of helpers are needed for the final Saturday dress rehearsal (4/16) and especially during the performances to keep things running smoothly. Please take a look and sign-up where you are able. There are lots of open spots! We really need some men for the boys dressing room. Any dads willing to help??  We will be selling “shout outs” before the show. If any younger siblings would like to help with that, bring them along.   • CONCESSION SIGN-UPS: The primary fundraising activity during the AMS annual musical is the concession stand during the performance. In order to make this successful, we are counting on your donations. We’d like each family to donate at least one item to the concession stand or make a monetary contribution towards the purchase of concession items. Thanks to those of you who have already brought in your donations. Julie will be in the concession stand tomorrow from 10-11 for you to drop off any items you might still have.   • TICKET SALES: Tickets sales will be done a little bit differently this year. Your child may have brought home a pink reservation form yesterday. If you didn’t get one, it is available here: http://bamcat.org/ticket-reservation-form/ All reservation forms are due on Monday!!! All cast/crew members will be able to reserve the number of needed tickets for each show, but payment can be made beginning 1.5 hours before each show. (You can pay for all shows on Thurs night.) Each cast/crew member is also being given 1 free ticket. Please indicate on the form which night you’d like to use the “free” ticket. I’m still trying to understand the logistics of all this, so please bear with us as the details are worked out!! Those who are signed up to help with ticket sales will get further instructions from me next week.
  • HAIR/MAKEUP FOR SHOW: Make-up should be natural looking- not too “done-up” with mascara, eyeliner, blush and medium red lips (not too bright!!) Girls hair should be pulled away from face, with no bangs if possible. It can be up in a bun, ponytail, or big curls as long as we can see your face!

Saturday Rehearsal extended!

Saturday’s rehearsal has been extended until 2:00. Practice will begin at 10:00, but Mr. Sweet will be there about 9:15 if you would like to arrive early to get yourself organized. Please bring the following:
The kids were given a pink ticket form today. I will be sending the ticket info in another mail so be on the look-out shortly.

Lots of Important Musical Information!!!!

We are 2 weeks away from show time and lots is going on!!!! Please read through the information below carefully and please let me know if you have any questions. There are lots of link and sign-ups!!!
  • SATURDAY REHEARSAL: Please be at school by 9am with all costumes! The morning will be spent finalizing costumes, props, lighting, staging, sets, special effects. All cast and crew are needed. Lunch (pizza) will be provided by BAMCAT at 11:30 but bring an extra snack if you’d like. After lunch, the rehearsal portion will begin. If you are unable to attend (and haven’t already let Mr. Sweet know via email or green sheet) please let us know ASAP. This is a very important rehearsal as it will be the first time all the technical things are added into the show.
  • CAST BIOS: All cast members are required to submit a short bio that will accompany their headshot. These will get posted in the lobby of the auditorium during the show. Headshots will be taken on Saturday. Bios are past due!! Of the 67 cast members, only 5 have been submitted.   • Next week rehearsals: Monday (3-5), Tuesday (3-8), Wednesday (3-5), Thursday (3-5) There is a parent from the Waterford Green subdivision looking to carpool. If anyone is interested, please let me know and I will put you in contact with them.
  • TUESDAY 4/12 REHEASAL & POTLUCK: This rehearsal will run until 8pm. Mr. Sweet is planning to do the show 2x so that all the double cast roles get a chance to do a full run-through. A yellow sheet from Mr. Sweet was sent home with potluck requests. Please use this as a guideline. If you are unable to bring your assigned item, it is fine to bring something else. We’ll especially be in need of main dishes, so for any of you who love to cook, we’d appreciate your cooking! We are feeding almost 100 kids between cast & crew. Costumes and Thursday rehearsal

A few notes from today:
  • We are taking pictures for the yearbook this week. If anyone wants to bring in costumes to wear tomorrow during rehearsal, please do so. It doesn’t have to be the full costume. We’re just trying to get a few shots that aren’t regular clothes
  • Besides the originally scheduled principal roles, Mr. Sweet had added in dancers and all speaking parts to Thursday’s rehearsal. Please attend if possible.
  • Those with speaking parts should have all their lines memorized by the time we return from spring break. Sleep with those scripts under your pillow if you need to!!

Announcements & Updates

We are just 5 short weeks away from opening night! The cast and crew have been working hard to make sure everything is getting done. Thanks to all the support from the parents!! Some important announcements so please make sure to read through:
  • CAST BIOS: All cast members are required to submit a short bio that will accompany their headshot. These will get posted in the lobby of the auditorium. Headshots will be taken in the upcoming weeks during rehearsals. Bios are due by Mon Apr 11th. Link is here:  http://bamcat.org/musical/cast-bio-submission/
  • Per Mr. Sweet- no more haircuts until after the show! Boys especially- shaggy, unkempt hair is good!
  • The costume crew is in need of gift cards to Joanne’s Fabric store. They’ve gotten lots of great costumes, but need to add embellishments now. All those ribbons, buttons and sequins add up!! Please contact Kaleen Holdaway if you’re willing to help out. kaleenholdaway@gmail.com
  • This Saturday’s rehearsal is for all speaking parts. Please make every effort to attend if possible. Some of the smaller roles will only be needed for a short time. These roles are needed: Frank, Buffalo Bill, Dolly, Tommy, Winnie, Annie, kids, Foster, Sitting Bull, Charlie, Pawnee Bill, Mac, Running Deer, Eagle Feather, Dining Car Waiter, Sleeping Car Porter, Messenger.   • Rehearsal on Saturday April 9th is very important! If you cannot attend, you must let Mr. Sweet know in advance. I do have a few notes already. This rehearsal will be from 9:00am-2:00pm for all cast. Bring all costumes! All costumes, tech, sets, props etc will be finalized. And then they’ll run through the entire show. Another full dress rehearsal will be on Saturday April 16th from 10-1.
  • Be on the look out in the coming weeks for food sign-ups. The rehearsals on Sat Apr 9th and Tuesday Apr 19th will have lunch or dinner included. BAMCAT will provide pizza/subs but we’ll need donations of side items. April 12th will be a potluck.
